I have to say again I very much enjoyed watching the Italian group routines which have won medals at Olympics and world championships (WCh) in the period 1994-2017. It was the same while watching the Spanish winner routines a couple of weeks ago. Of course, it's way less distressful to watch those high quality choreography, performances, and gymnasts aftermaths. Everything is already known, so you worry about neither eventual mistakes nor placing, and can focus on the art part of RG, and appreciate the beauty of this sport even more. I guess, being just a RG fan (without the professional eye for detail) also helps, because I just disregard any little mistake. .

So see the Italian routines by following the links 5, 3+2 for Italy in the table below, in order to make your mind on what's the Italian recipe for success at Olympic games and WCh. If you like, share what you think as a comment below. Do it in English, Bulgarian, or whatever your native language is, as Google Translate will make it accessible to everybody anyway.

As for me, here are the ingredients of the specific Italian success recipe, which I could see:

1) Italian choreography so much resembles a grandiose and dramatic classical opera spectacle, so I couldn't but associate it with the grand Italian heritage in classical music and opera, even when the actual routine music was not Italian;

2) They also often take advantage of their Italian classical music and opera in their routines. It is always impressive to watch Italians performing with such music as background; it amplifies the positive impression and feel of uniqueness. Apparently, barely somebody else would feel and interpret the Italian music better than Italians themselves.

3) They seem very confident and enthusiastic on the carpet, and obviously love RG, take it seriously, have a sound preparation system, and work a lot. Well, it doesn't seem to be specific indeed, since no success is possible in RG without it.

4) The Italian RG groups were perceived like innovators in a period of 15 years or so, when they scored their highest results; they showed a fresh new style, originality and creativity (very Italian, isn't it )), and were the in-thing.

5) Very tasteful everything, from music choice and choreography to leotards design and to well-mannered girls.

6) Even though Bulgarian and Russian RG specialists have taken part in setting “the Italian RG school”, the Italians have taken by something from each of them, to shape something own, which can be easily recognised.

7) The human factor... Firstly, alike Russia, Ukraine, and Bulgaria for example, there is a strong woman leading the national team. By the way, the Spaniards are maybe a rare exception from this success ingredient, at least up to my knowledge. Secondly, there are obviously talented coaches and choreographers. Thirdly, they cast beautiful and talented gymnasts. And finally, as already mentioned, Italian people seem to love RG, which is very important.

So here we are at the links themselves. There is a music references to each one. ---
