Here are paintings by Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master in this video that have become part of the Bulgarian identity, as probably every Bulgarian has seen them a lot of times, and knows who created them, more or less. Vladimir Dimitrov The Master loved painting women, countrywomеn in particular, in a very sinless, idealistic, and stylized way, as he was a follower of the Tolstoyan movement (the ideas of the Russian writer Lev Tolstoy), The painter also lived most of his life in Bulgarian villages.

"Diaida", whose YouTube channel I am taking the video from, has presented the artist in this way: "Vladimir Dimitrov - Maistora (1 February 1882 - 29 September 1960), was a Bulgarian painter, draughtsman and teacher. He is considered one of the most talented 20th century Bulgarian painters and probably the most remarkable stylist in Bulgarian painting. His portraits and compositions have expressive color, idealistic quality of the image and high symbolic strength.

Vladimir Dimitrov was born in Frolosh, near Kyustendil and started his career as a clerk. In 1903 he enrolled in the School of Drawing in Sofia where he had been called the Master (Maistora) for the first time..."
